The experience allows you to reach an altitude of 2500m and to admire from close the summit craters and the Bove valley on its highest and most panoramic point.
Program & Details:
we shall pick you up (in our own vehicles) at your lodgings, or at a meeting point previously agreed upon in Catania
arrival at “Rifugio Sapienza” at 1,900 m (6234 ft)
ascent with the cable car up to 2500m and easy trekking of about two hours to admire the summit craters and the Bove valley from its highest point.
trekking (at an easy level) around one of the oldest extinct craters formed during the 1892 eruption at a height of 2,000 m (6,562 ft)
exploration of a spectacular lava cave, which took shape during old eruptions (we shall provide helmets and flash lights)
visit to the most extreme front of the 1991-1993 lava flow which reached the town of Zafferance Etnea
visit to a local farm for a taste of the typical products of the area (honey, olive oils, pesto, wines & liqueurs)
Comfortable, layered clothing and closed shoes recommended
Excursion’s program may change due to adverse weather conditions
There will be a surcharge for pickups and drop offs outside of the city limits
Not wheelchair accessible
Parties with a large number of people are eligible for a negotiable discount
In wintertime, in the presence of snow, the prices could increase due to the use of special means of the cable car

Initially we wanted to climb to the top allowed but we have been recomended this trekking trip instead which turned to be even better. There are some areas with a medium climbing difficulty but it was worth it. Our tour guide Pier was amazing, we really enjoyed having him, he knows a lot of interesting things and even in detail, he was friendly and answered all our curriousites.

We had the best time going around Etna. Our tour guide Guiseppe was very knowledgeable and we were really impressed with his ‘Sicilian English’ He constantly kept us informed of the key things to note about Etna and was patient for us to look around each point. Taking us up to one of the high craters was a key highlight, and the views were incredible - a truly once in a lifetime experience 🙏🏼.
Ludovica the organiser was very helpful and communicated well with us before we arrived in Sicily and even sent us a map of the key things to see in Catania. Etnavic are a great company!
