Spend your morning among the many areas that characterize the unique volcanic landscape of Etna. This tour will conclude with a visit to one of the oldest and best known wineries of the volcano’s east side where it will be possible to sample the taste and aromas of their famous production.
Program & Details:
we shall pick you up (in our own vehicles) at your lodgings, or at a meeting point previously agreed upon in Catania
trekking (of an easy level, suitable for anyone) around one of the old, extinguished craters, which formed during the 1892 eruption at a height of 2,000 m (6,563 ft)
exploration of a spectacular lava cave, which took shape during old eruptions (we shall provide helmets and flash lights)
break at one of the most breathtaking points overlooking the volcanic boiler, “Valle del Bove”
visit to the most extreme front of the 1991-1993 lava flow, which reached the town of Zafferance Etnea
visit to the wine cellar and wine tasting at a well-known old Etna winery, where you will snack on the traditional fare and sample at least 4 different kinds of wine.
Comfortable, layered clothing and closed shoes recommended

We made a nice hike at one of the cones at 2000 m high, with some stop before to take panoramic photos in the way up. The mount Etna was completely covered in snow that day, so we missed some of the colors, but on the other hand it was beautifull all covered in white. We had some delicious pastries at the shop next to the parking recommended by the guide. Then we visited a lava tunnel, which was impressive. Then we visited the end point of the 1992 lava flow, since the fog did not allow us to visit the Valley of the Bove.
Our guide Sebastian was very friendly and explained everything there is to know about the Etna and the surroundings. We were also provided with walking canes for the hiking, helmets and lanterns for the cave.
I highly recommend it.read less
