We originally considered a few other tours with larger groups, but quickly realized we didn't want to get stuck in a group of 30 or 60 people. While those tours also offered a small-group option, it was much too expensive. It was just my wife and me on a private tour with Sebastian in his personal SUV. He spoke English very well, was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Mount Etna, and was very patient answering tons of questions about the geology, history, etc. He communicated really well before the trip (we were originally going to go another day, but he suggested we shift because of the weather, and we really appreciated the flexibility). It was lots of fun hiking during the tour, and we appreciated the chance to sample some local products. Having done this private tour option, this is the way to go if you can book it. Highly recommend! read less

Unbelievable trip to 3000m Unbelievable experience. Guide very knowledgeable. It was very cold in December. First
part of trip was by 4x4 bus and then we track all the way to 3000m.

The cost was very reasonable, especially considering it included transportation from Catania, all the equipment, and a beautiful program on the volcano.
Our guide Pier was excellent — he taught us so many things on the way to the volcano and throughout the entire tour. He kept explaining everything in detail and had an answer to every one of our questions. He was truly knowledgeable and not just someone randomly assigned with no real connection to the mountain.
Most importantly, our safety was their top priority.

Ludovico was a pleasure to work with. Our tour guide, Pietro (Peter) was very knowledgeable and kind and made the experience memorable. The rainy weather didn’t cooperate on the way up until we got above the clouds to our sunset spot. Well actually when we got to the cave which was very cool to walk into. It was our first visit to the magical Etna and it most definitely won’t be the last. As we walked around the crater, the fog started rolling in and it was eerie and beautiful at the same time. We stood there until we were entirely encompassed. Years from now we will be talking about this tour and this special moment of our trip. Can’t wait to visit again and hike to the top! See you again.
